You'll shoot your eye out, kid
For the first time, something I saw on a news page made me gain a shred of respect for those who make the laws:
"SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Keeping in step with courts around the country, the California Supreme Court ruled Monday that victims and families cannot sue gun manufacturers when the products are used illegally."
And there was much rejoicing.
Seriously though, I haven't been that proud of our legal system since they let Clinton get away with being a pimp. It's about time they started making people responsible for their own actions.
The article contains such interesting objections as:
"There is no upside for society with a product like that," Sposato said. "I'm a gun owner and a lifelong Republican. But this has got nothing to do with that."
Oh ho! Doesn't it? You had no problem with guns until this occured.
Carol Kingsley said the guns "were designed for mass killing and they were marketing, targeting these types of folks like Ferri."
Guns sure as hell weren't designed for scratching our asses with. Granted, these people lost loved ones to a homicidal maniac, for that they have my condolences. But suing the gun maker because shit happens, and nutcases run free, is asinine. They can't crusade for the murderer to be brought to justice, because he already killed himself. So who do they go after? The maker, not even the seller. Not the most rational of ideas. They've been wronged, I can understand that. But you cannot blame a business for the ills of society. Believe it or not, there is a market for those type of weapons. And although I myself, don't exactly see the good side of selling glorified machine guns to civilians, I sure as hell don't want the cops and the military to be the only ones with access to them. Damn cops who continue to pump unarmed people full of bullets already need to have their guns impounded and replaced with muskets as it is.
Most guns are going to be used illegally, sorry to say. But that doesn't mean I want to give them up. I have access to guns, and I have damn good aim. But I'm not going to shoot anyone, unless I absolutely have to. Self-defense in other words. I'm not going to rob anybody, I'm not going to lose my mind and start taking out innocent people either. You know why? Because I respect the law.
You see, it has nothing to do with how many or what types of guns you own. It all boils down to the individual. Do they respect the law? Does human life have any value to them? If they answer is no, then that person shouldn't even be trusted with a pair of blunted scissors, and if they get some sewing scissors and go on a rampage, you can't sue Jo Ann's House of Fabrics on their behalf.
Concentrate more on increasing the penalties for using weapons illegally, than on the making and selling of them. Guns don't kill people. Stupid motherfuckers with guns kill people.
